Glucosinolates as an effective tool in plant-parasitic nematodes control: Exploiting natural plant defenses

چکیده

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) are an important damaging biotic agent for numerous crops around the world, causing serious losses directly and indirectly. Cultural chemical control strategies were mainly used to PPNs management. However, choice of nematicides is strictly limited in agrosystems due their toxicity, impact environment and, therefore, banning policies. The main lines action biological nematode control, based on development antagonist microorganism formulations use plant extracts with nematicidal potential. There many secondary metabolites effective In this sense, glucosinolates (GSLs) especially, glucosinolate hydrolysis products (GHPs) show relevant activity. effects through which these compounds nematodes, both direct indirect diverse, such as anti-hatching effect or promotion competing saprophytic nematophagous bacteria populations. present work compiles studies that describe GSLs GHPs agriculture, very diverse range from crop rotation Brassicales application soil. authors a more sustainable suitable alternative remarking need further research modes environment.

Plant Extracts: A Potential Tool for Controlling Animal Parasitic Nematodes

Many plants play a crucial role in maintaining animal and human life in a natural balance with a tendency to establish an environmental armory among the different biosphere inhabitants. During evolution of living organisms in the biosphere biological interactions with other organisms are established and they affect each other in many ways. Different types of relationships are involved among org...

Anatomical Alterations in Plant Tissues Induced by Plant-Parasitic Nematodes

Plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) interact with plants in different ways, for example, through subtle feeding behavior, migrating destructively through infected tissues, or acting as virus-vectors for nepoviruses. They are all obligate biotrophic parasites as they derive their nutrients from living cells which they modify using pharyngeal gland secretions prior to food ingestion. Some of them ca...

Top 10 plant-parasitic nematodes in molecular plant pathology.

The aim of this review was to undertake a survey of researchers working with plant-parasitic nematodes in order to determine a 'top 10' list of these pathogens based on scientific and economic importance. Any such list will not be definitive as economic importance will vary depending on the region of the world in which a researcher is based. However, care was taken to include researchers from a...

Plant-parasitic nematodes in maine agricultural soils.

In a survey of plant-parasitic nematodes associated with agricultural crops in nine Maine counties, 744 soil samples from 26 potential host plants were analyzed between November 1987 and January 1989. The most commonly encountered nematode genus was Pratylenchus, occurring in 85% of the samples from most crops, except blueberries and onions. Pratylenchus penetrans and P. crenatus were found com...
